How was Priority Consult for Breast Care Developed?

Priority Consult Breast Care was developed in combination with the St. John Health Breast Program of Detroit. For the past seven years, Priority Consult Spine Care has successfully provided tools to facilitate the intake, triage and care coordination of spine patients within busy spine practices and hospital based spine centers across the country. St. John Health has used Priority Consult Spine Care since September 2006.

After observing a significant improvement in service delivered to spine patients within their spine center, they asked us to design a similar system to suit the needs of their growing breast program.

Dr. Cheryl Wesen , FACS, Director St. John Breast Care Program, Dr. Jeffrey Falk, Surgical Oncologist, Carolyn Schmidt, RN, MSH, OCN, Program Director St. John Health Breast Program and Tracey Hall, MSN, NP, OCN were instrumental in providing their expertise regarding breast care centers needed to develop an effective management and tracking system.

“It was imperative that the system be easy to use, highly customizable and beneficial to patients, staff, nurse navigators and breast care physician,” said Dr. Wesen.
